We take the freshest ingredients and deliver wholesome British country cooking. Local suppliers are at our heart. Simple bar nibbles like our own pub-made crisps with a dip or pub-made pork scratchings with apple sauce or small plates such as our Asparagus brochette with fried egg rocket and anchovies, through to our famous dry-aged steaks. On sunny weekends our outdoor kitchen is open specialising in Argentinian Asado grilling over a real wood fire, here you’ll find fresh clams, mussels, tiger prawns, lobster and fresh fish or for meat eaters fabulous cuts of steaks up to fifty-day dry-aged, lamb roasted over wood, lamb cutlets pork loins pulled pork, roasted chicken and vegetarian dishes such as our halloumi and field mushroom burger. Sweets are all made on the premises and change frequently.

Ales are the heart of our drink offer with the local Oakham JHB Ale featuring alongside beers such as Timothy Taylor, Landlord, Shepherd Neame Spitfire and often a guest ale which includes beers from the Grainstore Brewery in Rutland.
Draught lagers, cider and Guinness also feature alongside a comprehensive list of wines available by the glass and a further impressive selection of wines by the bottle and in addition, a selection of rare bin-ends – these are limited editions and will vary due to availability.
We have extensive stocks of main brand whisky and some exceptional Malts along with a superb range of Gin and some very special Armagnac. Along with all the brand spirits you’d expect.
