We take the freshest ingredients and deliver wholesome British country cooking. Local suppliers are at our heart and during the season you’ll find fresh lamb, pheasant and venison from the Burghley Estate and throughout the year dry aged steak from Owen Taylors along with foraged herbs and fruits. Our Inside menu features British pub classics, as well as daily Lunch and Evening Specials, Sunday lunch is a firm favourite with great reviews for a proper Sunday Roast, we regularly offers three roasted meats which every week includes our sumptuous 30 day aged Sirloin of beef served with roasted potatoes, cauliflower cheese, seasonal veg, homemade Yorkshire puddings and pub gravy. A vegetarian option features on all of our menus.
In the summertime the outside kitchen featuring our famous Argentinian Asado wood fire grill is a must, with fish, meats and veggies grilled over a searing wood fire. Our summer menu is featured as an attachment. Alongside the summer menu, we introduce daily specials. Reservations can be made for the outside open-air restaurant on the barn terrace by calling the pub during opening hours (we do not reply to email requests). A lighter bite “Garden Snack” menu is also available and attached, here you find simple light bites designed to be eaten with your fingers served in card trays. we do not take reservations for the garden express menu simply find yourself a bench in the garden then place your order at the bar you will be handed a pager and when your food is ready for collection the pager will vibrate light up and ring. Bring your pager back to the kitchen and collect your order.
Our menus are changed daily depending on seasonal produce.
Lunch and Dinner service available Wednesday to Saturday 12-2pm and 6-8.30pm on Sunday we serve lunch between 12-4pm which includes a number of dishes and our traditional Sunday Roasts.

Great real Ales like the Local Oakham Brewery JHB Pale ale and the Grainstore Breweries Ten Fifty dark ale alongside Shepherd Neames famous Spitfire Ale. Draft Guinness, Ciders and Lagers and a comprehensive wine list. We have a large range of Gins and all the Fever tree mixers why not take a look at our Gin Menu on arrival for some great ideas one favourite is Slingsby Rhubarb Gin served with Fever Tree Ginger Ale, a slice of fresh root ginger and plenty of ice.
Throughout the summer on Wednesdays – Sunday Inclusive (weather dependant) our outside bar offers all we do inside with real ales and lagers fed through underground lines from our cellar so you can enjoy every bit of the sunshine whilst relaxing in probably Rutland’s Best pub garden.
